Interior Inspiration: Bedroom Decor

inspiration: bedroom decor

1. Art by Wayne White (in my dreams) / 2. Mercury Glass Star Lamp / 3. Mirrored Nightstand / 4. White Houndstooth Bedding / 5. Tolouse Velvet Bed / 6. Antique Persian Rug

It isn't all too often that we get fresh starts in life. Chances to start over with clean slates, opportunities to create from nothing. Sometimes starting over is an immense relief. Sometimes starting over is a huge pain in the you-know-what. Most of the times, starting over is both. Right now, I happen to be in such a start-over place, and as such, I've found myself with a new place to create something from nothing. Literally. Nothing.

So while I may not be buying lots of original artworks right now, I feel overwhelmingly inspired to create things (a DIY inspired by this Wayne Write series coming soon), and daydream, and live in both the present and the future. It's a time to dream about my absolutely perfect lady bedroom.

PS: My domain host is having some serious hiccups right now. Please forgive us while we sort things out (and use the "blogspot" link for posts until resolved)

Baked Sunday Mornings: Antique Caramel Cake

It's been a minute, as they say. I'm sorry blog for neglecting you as of late, but to make up for it, I've brought cake! Very traditionally prepared, cream cheese frosting frosted, caramel cake. Hopefully this makes up for my recent bout of absence.

...if you say that it doesn't, you mustn't be a Texan, because we slather all of our apologies in cream cheese frosting, and accept them with great joy. At least, I do. Frosting that binds "like cement" (as a friend once described) but tastes like childhood, covering a light and fluffy cake with hints of homemade caramel. Tastes just like a sweet return!

Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dog Treats

Let's talk about the pups today. I know, I know, the Internet loves cats, but I'm allergic--and I love dogs (just ask my poor husband, a cat person). I love the doggies so much that when I have leftover pumpkin, I can't resist the urge to make teats for all the doggies in our lives. So many doggies.

If your pup is anything like ours, it's probably a peanut butter fiend. PB is basically a given in any treat for her (straight PB on a spoon is a Daisy fave).

You don't have to shape these treats into mustaches, but if you do, I guarantee, that anyone you give these treats to will you send you a photo of their dog wearing a "cookie" mustache. Totally worth it.

Bonus: Daisy with a mustache.

Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dog Cookies

Adapted from All Recipes

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
   2 eggs
   1 cup canned pumpkin
   2 tablespoons peanut butter
   1/2 teaspoon salt
   1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Whisk together the flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add water as needed to help make the dough workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff. Roll the dough into a 1/4-inch-thick roll. Chill in refrigerator until firm, using cookie cutters cut out treats (or cut into squares)
  3. Bake in preheated oven until hard, about 25-30 minutes.
