Throughout my life I've had what I lovingly refer to as 'bouts' of vegetarianism. The longest lasted seven years, and started in my late teens, extending into my twenties. Hold on readers, don't worry, this isn't a post about the morality of meat-eating--I'll be neither pro-omnivore or pro-herbivore in this post.
Because this post is about pie.
Why start a post about pie off with a discussion of vegetarianism? Because Thanksgiving is just around the corner, my friends... and even with the most understanding family, Thanksgiving dinner sucks as a vegetarian. Yet in my experience, [delicious] pie never, ever sucks. Pie easily remains one of the most anticipated attributes of the Turkey Day dinner for me. It's probably a layover from a childhood with a pastry chef mom; it's equally likely that pie is just really effing delicious.
Obviously, this year, as in all other years, I will be making pie(s) for Thanksgiving. I thought I would do a round-up of potential pie for piehole stuffing, in case you're in need of Piepalooza inspiration too.

{note: I have made this pie previously, and it's completely fantastic}

{note: This pie is almost a staple in our house. I make it constantly.
I really should blog about it soon, because I've modified the recipe to make it a bit healthier/more breakfast friendly}

{I recently made this pie for a bake sale, and didn't get to have a slice of the finished product. However, the remnants on my spatula were delicious}
Okay, maybe they're not the most traditional of pies, but I can get down with that. Someone else is always bound to go the traditional route, why not shake it up for your family and friends?
